Welcome to Waterville! Incorporated in 1802, Waterville is a classic old Maine mill town, with a history including industry, education, and even show business. Renys opened in Waterville in 2025.

In the 1800s, Waterville grew as a trade and shipping hub, with textile mills, a brickyard, a shovel handle factory, and more springing up around town. Colby College was founded in 1813, and by 1849, the railroad had come to town, further boosting the town’s growth as locomotive repair shops opened. In 1894, Thomas College was founded, and today, Colby and Thomas still draw students from around the world to study in Maine. In the early 2000s, Waterville gained fame as a filming location for the series Empire Falls, giving viewers a glimpse of “the way life should be.” This small town is a great place to hop off 295 and take a break as you travel north for a Maine adventure! With Renys in Waterville, you can stock up on seasonal goods, find Maine souvenirs, and anything else you need for a great trip.
