Renys Camden

The Camden Renys opened in 1982 in the self-described jewel of the Maine coast. This coastal Knox County haven is a popular tourist destination for visitors who love seafood, unique shopping, and outdoor coastal adventures.

In the 1800s, Camden flourished on the banks of the Megunticook River, which provided power for mills. The town also had blacksmith shops, carriage factories, and six shipyards. By the end of the 19th century, Camden was producing anchors, planking, railroad cars, mattresses, boots, lime, and more! When sportsmen and wealthy visitors began to discover Camden’s natural beauty, a wealthy summer colony that rivaled Bar Harbor in its opulence began to grow.
